Trained as a graphic designer in New York, Marcia Kmack has had a widely varied art career.
After
getting her degree in Graphic Art & Design, she worked for Parker
Brothers Toys as a game box designer. The 1972 edition of "Clue" is her
claim to fame!
A
common thread throughout her career is that she has taught art. She
owned a stoneware pottery and school in Bloomington, IN (1973-77). In
co-operation with the Phoenix Art Museum, Marcia Kmack & Janie
White developed, implemented and taught an art appreciation
program in the Cave Creek School District (1990-1997).
Marcia has been creating lampwork beads since she learned in 1998 at
The Red Hot Glass Shop; that space is now her own studio in Cave Creek,
AZ. In October 2002, Marcia Kmack established Cave Creek Glassworks. Since
opening, she has taught hundreds of new bead artists. She has also
hosted internationally known glass artists Corina Tettinger, Kristen
Orr, Bill Rasmuson and Bandhu Dunham.
10/01/03 - Marcia's work was accepted for publication in Lark Books newest publication,
1000 GLASS BEADS.
She is especially thrilled about this since the work accepted was the
collection of study beads for her class "Lots of Dots" (Bead One).
